Privacy
The short version
- No accounts, no sign-up, no newsletter.
- We set no cookies of our own (our host's bot protection may require one, described below) and run no analytics or advertising trackers. We only count, anonymously, how often our eBay links are followed.
- When you click an eBay link, you leave our site. eBay and its affiliate program may then set their own cookies, under eBay's privacy notice, so that a purchase can be credited to us.
When you set a tire size
The calculations happen in your browser: nothing is sent. When the page shows tires listed on eBay, your browser sends our server the size and the condition you chose. Our server asks eBay for listings in that size, sending only those words and our own partner identifier, nothing about you, and keeps the answer about 30 minutes, filed under the size only. When you pick a car, or type words in the search bar, the same applies to the year, make and model, or to the words you typed.
When you search with a photo
If you choose a photo with the camera button, your browser first shrinks it and re-draws it, which removes its hidden details (such as the place and time it was taken). Our server passes that copy to eBay's image search to find similar listings in Wheels, Tires & Parts. We do not keep the photo: it is not saved, cached or written to any log by us. eBay receives it under its own privacy notice. Do not use a photo that shows people, documents or a licence plate.
The listing photos load directly from eBay's image servers (i.ebayimg.com). Like any image on the web, that request gives eBay's servers your connection address and browser type.
Counting clicks to eBay
When you follow one of our eBay links, the page tells our own server only which kind of link it was (for example "a tire, a listing"). Our server adds one to a monthly total. This counter uses no cookie and no identifier, and it does not store your connection address. It is not sent at all when your browser asks for Global Privacy Control. The eBay link itself is not changed.
What our hosting provider records
Like every website, our hosting provider (Bluehost, located in the United States) automatically keeps technical server logs: connection address, date and time, page requested, browser and device type, referring page. They are used to deliver the site, keep it secure and fix errors. We do not combine them with anything else, use them to identify you, or sell or share them. This means some information is handled outside Quebec.
Cookies and storage
This site sets no cookies of its own, and uses no tracking pixels, fingerprinting, third-party analytics or advertising technology, so there is no cookie banner. Our fonts are served from our own server.
One exception belongs to our hosting provider: its protection against bots may ask your browser to keep a cookie named "humans_" followed by a number, with the value 1, before it lets a request through. It contains no identifier and is the same for every visitor. When the host asks for it, our page sets it so that the listings keep working; we never read it or use it for anything else.
